The organised rally will take place between the 10th of June and the 13th of June, starting at Bembridge on the 10th and officially finishing at Lymington on the 13th with the option of continuing westward, for those prepared to ignore the legend annotated on the charts at the Needles Fairway buoy, “There be Dragons”, with Weymouth being the obvious next stop.
We are booking moorings at the harbours we are visiting, for all participating boats and evening meals at various pubs and restaurants a short distance walk from those berths. Additionally there will be a pontoon party, the famous Nauticat Boat Race Game and probably a couple of other things but overarching everything the aim is to have a good time and laugh a lot.
We would be grateful if members would let us know if they plan to come along because knowing the number of boats and people is pretty important and most Marinas and restaurants require fairly accurate numbers a couple of weeks ahead of the event and we, the organisers, by the end of April. In the work done this week I’ve discovered that some marinas in the Solent are already getting fully booked for June!
The last few years the rally organisers have been Brent and Carole Strickland gamely obstructed by Lindsay and myself but C&B have had the audacity to jump on a cruise ship for three months leaving us to it. Fortunately for all they’ll be back in March to sort it out!
