    Dear All,

I’ve had a request in for details of any good, reasonably priced surveyors familiar with Nauticat’s on the South Coast of England. Has anyone had a good experience ?

Failing that who has used a surveyor that they were pleased with and can they provide their details ?

    thanks,

    Richard.

My saiing club two weeks ago had a talk by Guy Nicholls, Principal Marine Surveyor at Solent Marine Surveys. http://solentmarinesurveys.com/
He told us all about his work, including the range of survey types available and the limitations of them.
He talked about the problems he encounters with various makes of boats but clearly thought Nauticats are very sound.
I talked to him afterwards and it turns out he is a friend of Clive Stratton, who is the Nauticat UK agent and Nauticat broker.
He told me Clive uses him for surveys.
I’ve no idea about prices, it obviously depends on what type of survey you want.

I was happy with his work.

    Hi,
I had my Nc39 surveyed by Tony Staton-Bevan of Abbey Yachts based in Milford-on-Sea near Lymington. Contact details: 01590 645755, info@abbeyyachts.co.uk or https://www.abbeyyachts.co.uk

Very pleased with his work, I was aboard with him while he was conducting the survey which is what I would recommend any purchaser to do. He gave background details on all the issues he listed and recommendations to rectify the issues.

A surveyor who is not prepared for the buyer to be present during the inspection I would not use.

I also had the engine inspected by a marine engineer who had experience of Yanmar engines.
