We are currently in the process of changing the stern gland for the volvo type. We have detached and opened up the coupling in order to have access to the prop shaft nut. Any idea whether it’s a lefty loosie or whether the thread is inverted?
A pontoon friend of mine had to change his vetus type 10 coupling, which I suspect is the part your have to remove in order to pull down the propeller shaft. Mai problem is accessibility (very typical for nauticats)
I kept pictures and notes (notes are in french but google translate can do very acceptable miracles) he passed me along. I’ll try to attaqch them in a further post.
A mecanic on the La Rochelle port changed my stern gland and billed me very little amount of hours for that thus I suspect it’s quite an easy job.
Yves.
