Boat lifted yesterday, I noticed that there was grease present around the stock upper bearing, but none at the lower.

I believe the stock is solid bar, there is no lower grease point so how is it lubricated ??

    Any thoughts ?

The upper stock bearing has a grease point which is mainly to stop water getting in as well as providing a bit of lubricant, the lower is not greased, it is a dry or I should say wet bearing arrangement.

    Hi Alan,

I agree upper bearing has a remote greaser. I could not see anything around the lower bearing, and had come to the conclusion that there must be a bushing in the skeg which relys on water lubrication.
It is a pity that the Siltala manual supplied to the first owner does not include more engineering details on items such as this 🙂

    Thanks.
