During one of my regular checks of rigging and guard rails I discovered 2 areas of concern with the wire. I’ve decided to swap out the whole lot for new.

Has anyone replaced their guard rails recently? If so, any advice on the best place to source the various lengths and what sort of price range used would be appreciated.

    Hi Ray,

Suggest you speak to Stewart Peters at the Hornet Club as you are berthed fairly close by. He replaced the original plastic covered wire on my 39 with new stainless steel (no plastic covering) wire a few years ago.

If you have the plastic covered wire, I suggest you strip off a few inches where the plastic has cracked. It will be most likely be rusted and corroding away along a fair length of the guard rails. Mine was. Stewart will offer you better value than the local Gosport based riggers.

Thanks Paul; I know Stewart well so I will pop over to see him. I never thought of him so thanks for the advice.

Hope to see you soon too
