Does anyone have an old cutlass bearing from a 331 or i think the 33 mk 2 is the same that I can use to make a cutlass bearing remover. Needs to be a 40mm shaft size. I will be willing to buy and pay postage. The exact sizes are 40mm shaft size x 55mm outer diameter x 169mm length.

I don’t – but if you give Gosport Boatyard a ring on 02392 586216 I bet they’d have something that they would send up to you.

Charles thanks for that, I am coming down to Portsmouth at some piont in the next week or so and could pop into Bosham if that’s convenient and collect it. Can you please make contact with me on paul@loveourfurniture.com or 07739094801. Kind regards Paul Wharton

Question : Is the 331 Cutless brg length 169mm ?

The standard size from ASAP/Aquafax is 160mm.

Do you recommend Nitrile (softer and wears quicker, claims to accept misalignment best) or Polyurethane (best for wear). Boat is based in the ‘muddy’ waters of the S.East Coast so wear could be an issue !

    Good afternoon,

As Dotecom I am looking for an ‘old’ cutlass bearing does anyone have one they are willing to ‘sell’, I’ll pay postage ?

Does anyone happen to know the outside horizontal width of a 331 ‘P’ bracket at the cutlass brg ? Needed to construct a pressing tool with studs passing the sides of the bracket !

    Regards,

Hi Alasdair, I know that One of our members Charles Keiller has a puller that he had made and it did the job for him. If you made contact with him he might give you the dimensions of the puller. He lives near Portsmouth whether he would loan it to you I am not sure!

    Hi Paul,

    Thanks for your suggestion.

I’ve drawn up parts for bearing press and prop puller tools they are out for quote !

Not looking forward to removing the prop nout and prop !! Do you have any idea nut torque and how to hold the shaft from turning ?

Now to get the boat lifted.

    Regards,

    Alasdair
