An expensive trip to Harwich last weekend left us down one midship cleat.

Didn’t have enough snubbers I guess. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a replacement?

    Hi Duncan.
I bought a couple that I fitted to my Nauticat from Marine superstore

    Best wishes Piers

    Hi Duncan,

Care to share the circumstances which led up to this failure ? What age is the cleat ?

Was there any indication that the cleat had cracking or corrosion ? Studying the photo suggests that there might have been cracks, the blue marking ?!

Off to do a close inspection of my cleats !!

    Rgds, Alasdair

I’ve got a pair of cleats I’m never going to use, you can have them for free if they are going to fit. I’ll get them out of the loft and send you a picture against a ruler so you can decide if you can fit them.

@Vic – Thank you for the kind offer. Unfortunately the midships on our N42 are a two bolt single side offset affair.

In terms of the cause of the damage it was a strong wind against tide at Harwich ha penny pier. We should have moved on but didn’t.
