Sorry the original text didn’t make sense. Here it is revised. Hopefully my hang up with in-mast mainsail reefing is resolved, especially as changing the mast, boom, rigging is a huge cost. I’ve been helped with the guidance of our sail maker (Peter Sanders – great sails, great guy) and a chum of his, Peter Whatley, whose recently arrived in Horta we’ve tightened up the in-mast roller fuller to give less play and moved how far the outhaul block can travel down the boom to half way along the boom. Net result is a horizontal pull on the mainsail clew and a much easier mode of action. I would move prefer single line slab reefing but these changes may make a significant difference.
